ACV Magnesium Lotions

Vinegar of the Four Thieves with Pinon Pine Oil

Lotion made from Apple Cider Vinegar, Pine Trees and Magnesium? Say what? That's right, we have forged the wild frontier of skin care using our raw, organic apple cider Vinegar of the Four Thieves, local pine trees and handmade, basil infused magnesium oil. All of our wildly popular lotions are handcrafted in small batches, using organic ingredients. We ethically wild harvest and grow as many of our ingredients as we can and all of our recipes are our own original creations. While these lotions are very therapeutic and powerful, they are safe to use just as you would use any regular lotion. For use on face, hands, body, feet, even baby bottoms! :)

The "beauty" of using our V4T in these lotions, is that it also acts as a preservative. Paired with Vitamin E oil, there is no need for harsh chemical preservatives. Score! Raw organic apple cider Vinegar of the Four Thieves (please see our Apple Cider Vinegars page for more information about this powerful vinegar), is combined with handmade magnesium oil infused with organic Thai Basil. This gets combined with our wild-harvested, handmade Pinon oil, made with Cold Pressed, Extra Virgin organic olive oil. Throw in some sweet almond oil oil, plant based emulsifying wax, vitamin E oil and - there is it! The purest, most nutrient dense, silky smooth, complexion clearing, mineral rich, ultra luxurious lotion you've ever slathered on.

The Vinegar (V4T) - The benefits of apple cider vinegar come from it’s powerful healing compounds which include acetic acid, potassium, magnesium, probiotics and enzymes. Acetic acid has the ability to kill dangerous “bad” bacteria, and at the same time to foster the growth of beneficial “good” bacteria. Because acetic acid kills unwanted bacteria when it comes into contact with it, it essentially acts as a natural antibiotic. This means apple cider vinegar naturally provides numerous benefits related to skin, digestion, and immunity health without any side effects.

V4T in lotion helps to:

Clear skin problems and stop acne. The acidity in the vinegar will dry out the blemish allowing new, healthy skin to take its place.

Regulate the pH of your skin

Soothe a sunburn

Help with varicose veins because of its high levels of vitamins, which will work to deter and reduce the veins

Target age and sun spots

Help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Acts as a topical probiotic

TRANSDERMAL (topically applied) MAGNESIUM

Transdermal magnesium is a powerful tool in the battle against magnesium deficiency. Benefits reported by those who use transdermal applications of magnesium relate specifically to its therapeutic application on the skin and its direct absorption into the cells:

Increased sleep

Reduced muscle aches, pains, cramping and spasms

Healthy skin and reduced outbreaks of eczema and psoriasis

Better relaxation and stress management

Increased energy levels and improved moods

Increased athletic performance

Transdermal magnesium is also an easy and convenient, “do it yourself” method of magnesium supplementation, as it avoids the problems of gastrointestinal irritation and diarrhea, through bypassing the digestive system entirely. It passes directly into the tissues via the skin, where it is quickly transported to cells throughout the body. Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in your body. Researchers have detected more than 3,750 magnesium-binding sites on human proteins giving an indication of its wide-ranging health effects. More than 300 different enzymes also rely on magnesium for proper function.

A common estimate is that 50 to 80 percent of Americans are deficient in magnesium, and the health consequences are significant. Magnesium plays an important role in your body's biochemical processes, many of which are crucial for proper metabolic function. This includes but is not limited to:

Creation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency of your body

Relaxation of blood vessels

Muscle and nerve function, including the action of your heart muscle

Proper formation of bones and teeth

Regulation of blood sugar and insulin sensitivity, which is important for the prevention of type 2 diabetes.

Magnesium and Heart Health

If you're lacking in cellular magnesium, it can lead to the deterioration of your cellular metabolic function and mitochondrial function, which in turn can lead to more serious health problems. The scientific evidence suggests magnesium is particularly important for your heart health.

Moreover, it's very important to have a proper balance between magnesium and calcium, but few people get enough magnesium in their diet these days, while calcium tends to be overused and taken in high quantities. Insufficient magnesium tends to trigger muscle spasms, and this has consequences for your heart in particular. This is especially true if you also have excessive calcium, as calcium causes muscle contractions. Magnesium also functions as an electrolyte, which is crucial for all electrical activity in your body. Without electrolytes such as magnesium, potassium and sodium, electrical signals cannot be sent or received, and without these signals, your heart cannot pump blood and your brain cannot function properly. **

Transdermal Application of Pinon Pine Sap

The resin, sometimes referred to as sap or pitch is found on the tree where there is a wound in the bark. This can be from insects, a broken branch or a gouge in the bark. One reason I prefer pinon for salve making is because the resin of this species is so profuse. It is often found in balls the size of an apricot, sometimes larger.

Energetics, Chemistry and Therapeutics of Pine Resin

The energy is warming, stimulating and moving. It increases blood flow to a localized area and may be helpful for sore muscles and stiff joints. It is also helpful as a chest rub to break up lung congestion.

The chemistry of this resin gives insight into its therapeutics. Depending on the tree and individual batch, the resin may contain more than 50% pinene. This constituent is broadly anti-microbial for both topical use and when inhaled as part of an essential oil. When combined with a quality carrier oil, pine resin salve has been used for many irritated and infected skin conditions, as a lip balm and generally dry, itchy skin. An often overlooked quality of the salve is the aroma, which is light, uplifting and stimulating. Who doesn’t love the smell of conifers?

When you combine the topical healing properties of the V4T with the mineral rich magnesium oil, and then add in the Pinon oil to increase circulation, the result is the magnesium getting distributed beautifully and quickly, straight where it's needed - to your tissues. This is called "tissue saturation", and is extremely desirable. The end result is baby soft, super healthy skin that is glowing with health and vitality! In order to ensure your lotion lasts a nice, long time, it is a good idea to keep it in the refrigerator.

All lotions have same nutritional content and efficacy. The only difference is in the essential oils used for scent and the strength of the ACV and magnesium.
